The History of Cedar Springs

The Cedar Springs property was purchased in 1974 by John and Katherine Bargen.  The Bargen family lived in Canada, but would often spend weekends at what they affectionately called “The Farm”.  The small A-frame that stands in the shadows of the tall trees just inside the entrance to the farm helped sprout the idea of a Retreat Center.  Shortly after The Farm was purchased, the building became the focal point for overnight functions for the Richmond Bethel Church ministries. By 1980, it was evident to the family that God was leading them to develop the property into a retreat center.  Plans for building the Chalet Lodge began, and by 1982, the Chalet was completed and ready for use.  On August 14, 1982, the Chalet was dedicated to the Lord, for His Honor and Glory.
